Omega-3 fatty acids are also known as good fats that benefit your body. It is an essential fatty acid, which means your body can’t produce on its own.

However, you must include foods and supplements rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

What do omega-3 fatty acids do?

Being a fatty acid,

  1. It provides the structure to the cells
  2. Supports interaction between the cells
  3. Helps the bodily functions

Examples of omega-3 fatty acids?

Omega-3 gets converted in the body through these three types

  1. Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA): It is found in marine fish
  2. Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA): It is also found in marine fish
  3. Alpha-lineoic acid(ALA): It is found in plant sources only

Both EPA and DHA get converted to omega-3. When you consume ALA, only a small amount gets converted to EPA and then to omega-3.
